Thomas Chamberlain

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the University of Rochester, where I study American politics with a focus on elections and voting behavior. My dissertation examines how elite issue emphasis changes the trade-offs voters make when choosing between candidates with positions on many issues, and how these changes affect the kinds of platforms that can win majority support. Methodologically, my work mixes elements of experimental design, causal inference, and statistical modeling. I am also broadly interested in the measurement of political preferences, ideology, and issue importance, and in American political development.

Previously, I received a B.A. in political philosophy from Stanford University and worked in NYC politics.
